Cottages at the Neubempt Farm
The organic and sustainable cottages of Neubempt
The first gîte in Neubempt, accommodating 12 people, was built using the ruins of an old bakehouse (the bread oven building with the pigpen below and the chicken coop above). Apart from the main structure, we built it ourselves, just as we would for ourselves, using natural materials (clay, wood, ecological insulation, and a ceiling and cladding made of raw, locally sourced wood). It was built to be very spacious, ideal for families and groups.
The second cottage, also spacious, was built almost entirely by ourselves, using a frame of untreated local timber and straw from our farm. Cozier, with a superb view, it sleeps 4 to 5 people, including 2 with reduced mobility (PRM), and was designed for our retirement.
The cottages are located 50 meters from our old organic farm which is open to you with its organic products.
A former farm in the Herve region, built in 1649, the Neubempt farm came into the family at the end of the 1800s. Its name means "new communal fields," in other words: A place where the villagers' herds could graze. Certified organic since 1998, our farm, with its "Blanc Dos" cattle (an old dual-purpose breed from the Herve region), produces high-quality milk because all the feed is grown on-site and our products are processed directly by us. A place of nature, hospitality, encounters, artisanal production, tranquility, life, and celebrations, the Neubempt farm is a vibrant part of the village, the region, Europe, and the world.
